URBAN DOLLKISS: Urban City Real Liptone Tint

51rmouspsilThis is another offering from Urban Dolkiss’s Urban city line.

This liptint comes in five different shades including pink, orange and red.

The claims about this liptint is that it is moisturizing and gentle to dry lips, has a refreshing texture and taste with no stickiness, it also is supposed to give the wearer a vivid lip colour with comfort.

Among the ingredients are pomegranate extract, rose hip fruit oil, macadamia seed oil and safflower oil.

These ingredients drew me in to buy this as I do suffer from notoriously dry lips and I do love the effect that liptints give but they can also be very drying in my experience.

I bought the shade NO.5 Rosewood which is a red with some slight hint of brown undertones. It is neither warm nor cold and I think it is going to suit a wide range of skin tones.

Packaging

The packaging is adorable and it follows the same cues as the URBAN DOLLKISS Urban City Fresh Blown Eau De Parfum packaging in that the contents are in a glass bottle shaped like an apple with a metallic plastic cap.

The applicator is not of the doe foot kind but more “paddle shaped” which combined with the short length of the handle might make it a bit difficult to apply but the trick is to start on the center of the lip and spreading the tint to the sides and to use the remaining product on the upper lip. The applicator has a tendency to collect a lot of the product.

20171016_171634.jpg

The bottle contains 7 grams of product.

I also like the card box the product comes with since it makes it easy to discern the shade from the others.

Formula

The first thing I notice is the fresh but mild scent this product has. It is a non-offensive fruity floral scent that I think a lot of people are going to like.

Compared to a lot of liptints I’ve tried in the past this has a very creamy consistency and it does feel very moisturizing on the lips. I’ve found myself reaching for this when I want some colour on my lips but they are dry and if I’d worn something else it would have aggravated my chapped lips.

This does not highlight chapped lips but it makes them look healthy and hydrated.

It is also extremely opaque and pigmented compared to a lot of liptints out there, not that it is always a trait that I want in a liptint but I’m just highlighting how this product differs from a lot liptints on the market.

It also leaves a very beautiful stain so you don’t have to reapply it often.

Shade

I really like this shade as it is different from the usual reds I wear.

It is more down toned than the true reds and the bluish red I often gravitate towards and I think that with the formula it makes this a very sophisticated colour on the lips.

I also think that it will work well on different skin tones.

Conclusion

20170913_155515.jpg

I can whole heartedly recommend this to anyone and especially towards people with dry lips.

The formula is one of the best ones out on the market and most importantly it makes lips look healthy and hydrated.

I will definitely rebuy this one day and I’m interested in buying some of the other shades.

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you loved this post!

Berrisom – Oops Bubble Mask

20170828_185441.jpg

I’ve been curious for a long time of bubble masks but been sceptical since I’ve heard a lot of complaints about them not really working.

But I am very happy that I managed to order this and received it before my birthday came up.

What is it supposed to do?

20170828_185511.jpg

These come in three variants but I picked the Brighten fruit since I felt that one suited my needs the most.

It is supposed to brighten, clean out waste, regenerate your skin and make it more even in tone.

This is thanks to ingredients like carbonated sparkling water, lycopene, extracts from tomato, grapefruit, blueberry, acerola cherry and centella asiatica.

How to use

Cleanse and tone your face before applying, remember to gently massage the packaging before opening in order for the contents to mix properly.

This can be left on for 5-10 minutes before removal. Massage any remaining product into the skin before washing it off.

So how did this work out?

This sheet mask differs from regular ones not only because of the bubbles but also since it only covers half of the face.

The scent is what I would describe as “clean”, it smells like lemon and baking soda mixed together but it keeps away from reminding me of cleaning agents. I like it a lot as it’s very relaxing.

When you take the mask out of the packet the sheet is of a pale yellow colour but I did not manage to photograph it since it starts to foam up very quickly.

I decided to leave this on for 10 minutes.

My first impression is that I’d really would have liked this better if it covered my whole face since it did felt like it could slide off my face at any moment if I was not careful. But this is really the only con about this product in my opinion.

The first two minutes this mask does sting a bit but it is not stingy or bad just very weird. It soon it goes over into a more soothing and soft sensation.

It foams up very quickly aswell, which I’ll admit was a bit unexpected despite the masks name.

As mentioned I had this mask on for ten minutes before taking it off and massaging the remaining products into my skin before washing it off.

Wow!

I am rarely this impressed by any skin care product as I am with this one. Even with face masks I am used to have to try them at least twice before I can definitely say what effect they have on my skin but this one just changed my skin into looking smoother and more glowing. Not to say incredibly soft even three days after.

I can recommend this with all my heart and I am going to try the other ones in the series.

Sorry for the bad image qualities that follow and for looking grumpy XD.

As always thank you all so much for stopping by!

H&M: Gel Studio Nail Colours

20170820_155958.jpg

Not that long ago I posted a review of some of the nail polishes from H&M, which was a very mixed experience to put it mildly as I’ve never experienced any nail polish line having such quality differences between different shades before.

But as always I am curious to try new offerings when it comes to budget friendly brands.

Before I go any further into this review let me just tell you straight away that these gel nail polishes is not anything innovative in my opinion but I tend to like them since they usually last longer than regular nail polishes. A lot of other brands have these polishes were you have a main shade and a sealing top coat.

I’ll have to say that this line seems to be much more sophisticated than their regular line as the colours are deeper and more saturated. There is only one shimmer shade and it is the one I picked up called Green as gold.

20170820_155937.jpg

How to use

Apply two coats of Gel Studio Nail Colour, allowing 2 minutes drying time. Once dry, apply Gel Studio Top Coat.

20170820_160234

The shade

I really love this colour despite being a bit disappointed in that the bluish hue in the bottle did not translate to my nails, but this is nonetheless extremely pretty and very different from anything else I have.

It’s a colour that I would like to describe as an olive with a very strong gold shift.

20170820_162733

20170818_201702

20170820_162501

Application

The formula of the nail polish is much thicker than what I associate with gel nail polishes, it is also very gloppy wich makes this difficult to apply evenly as the brush strokes can become quite visible.

This can be quite annoying plus that it sometimes will create air bubbles on the nails, which is weird and something that I can’t remember experiencing with any other nail polish.

After applying two coats of the nail colour and letting both dry completely, it is time to apply the top coat and I am very impressed by it as it dries very quick and leaves a smooth and shiny surface.

How long does it last?

1-2 days unfortunately 😦

It’s also very strange that it comes off in one piece.

20170819_154532.jpg

Conclusion

I really love the colour but I am very disappointed with the application process and wear time.

I will likely not buy any of the other shades in this line.

Thank you so much for reading!

Tell me what you think of H&M’s nail polish lines, do you like them or not?

FaceInc by NailsInc London : Gilt Tripper Exfoliating Sheet Mask

20170803_192028.jpg

This is a new offer at my local H&M, I was not super impressed by the last one I tried but I decided to give in and purchase this one.

Here’s my review of that one: Face Inc by Nails Inc London: Cat Nap brightening sheet mask

This is an exfoliating sheet mask with a “gold barrier” which is supposed to help the formula and remove dead skin cells.

The formula contains hyaluronic acid, vitamin B5, cactus flower extract and honey extract. To mention a few.

But does it work?

Instructions

Apply to clean and dried skin. Be careful when taking out of the packaging and when applying it, make sure that it is in even contact with the skin. Leave it on for fifteen minutes and massage excessive serum into the skin. Wash off after use.

How did this work?

20170803_192334.jpg

This feels much sturdier than the regular sheet mask and I feel wonderfully silly in it.

The first thing I notice is just how warm it feels after just a couple of seconds, I do not think it is because it is aggravating my skin, it is just being warmed up by my body heat.

One thing of notice is that this mask does not have any particular scent, which is greatly welcomed by me as it means that I’m going to be more comfortable using this.

I really do like this but at the last minutes of using this I could feel it becoming  a little bit uncomfortable, this is due to my skin taking in all the skin loving ingredients which all in all is not a bad thing, so it was nice taking it off after 15 minutes.

I massaged the remains and washed my face as per instructions.

I have to say that I am impressed by this.

My skin is left feeling soft, glowing and I feel refreshed.

Have you tried any of these sheet masks?

What do you think about them?

The Body Shop: Fresh Nude Foundation

According to The Body Shop this foundation is enriched with English rose-water and organic aloe vera. It is supposed to be a hydrating formula with a light to medium coverage and a semi matte finish, it has an spf of 15 and leaves the skin hydrated for 24 hr with comfort and without the mask feeling. It also comes in 16 shades inspired by nature. It is a foundation that is suitable for all skin types including sensitive according to The Body Shop.

But do these claims hold up?

Let’s take a look!

2881465

Now before I go into this review I want to state that I have used this foundation since April 2016, which makes this review long overdue but at least you can say that this is one product that has been fully tested out 😉

Packaging

This foundation comes housed in a glass bottle with a pump, something I do prefer since it is more hygienic. It also feels heavy in my hand when I hold it up but I’d really wish that the cap was made from something else than black thin plastic as it does feel flimsy compared to the rest.

It contains 30 ml of product which I feel is a very average amount for foundation.

I feel this bottle has an understated elegance about it which is usually the look I like in makeup packaging.

Picture 504

Formula

Compared to a lot of liquid foundations I’ve tried through the years, this has a very runny consistency and the pigments in this is very finely milled which is something I prefer in a foundation since it does give a very natural result and is very easy to work with.

Picture 507

Here you can clearly see the consistency of this foundation.

The closest foundation this reminds me of is the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin, not that says a lot really since they are quite different in texture and finish but it is the closest foundation I can compare it to.

I enjoy the floral scent it has, it is mild and non- abrasive but fresh.

Picture 506

When it comes to the claim about 24hr of hydration, I just have an important question: who wears a foundation that long?

But it does in fact feel great on my combo/oily skin, it does not break me out or feel heavy as most hydrating base products does. On the rare occasion I’m having any red or dry areas on my skin, this foundation does help calm those areas down and conceal them while on my oily areas it helps controlling the oil.

One of the claims The Body Shop has with this foundation is also that it’s supposed to give your skin a nice healthy glow, a claim that it upholds as I’ve never received so many comments on how healthy and glowy my skin look as I have when wearing this.

I feel that this foundation is the best I’ve ever had the pleasure to use as it does tick all the boxes for what I look for in a foundation.

It also works over sun screen without getting greasy or starting to separate, something which is important for me as I use sunscreen everyday.

Another thing to mention is that i find this foundation suitable in all kinds of seasons. During winter times it protects my skin while in summer time it helps cooling down my skin.

But it might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

This has a medium to light coverage and it is not buildable. Personally this is the coverage I prefer but I know others might want a heavier coverage or at least the possibility to build up the coverage on strategic areas.

When it comes to the claim about it being suitable to all skin types, I just feel the need to state that no matter what sort of beauty product your trying out, please do a sensitivity check first and remember that just because something claims that it is suitable for a certain skin type, it is not always true.

I’ve had experiences with products aimed at oily/combination skin that actually either made me greasy or even dried up my skin so bad that I had to use weeks to get my skin back to health.

Conclusion

Snapchat-61303032.jpg

I can highly recommend this to people who want a natural looking finish and coverage.

It’s a bonus that this foundation comes in a wide range of skin tones. I wear the lightest shade and it is the first time I can say that my foundation shade suits me seamlessly since I am very pale with a cool undertone.

The deepest shade is darker than what I’ve seen in most other ranges, I’m not the right person to give advice on foundations for people with deeper skin tones but this might be a perfect match for someone who has trouble to find a foundation deep enough for them. Hence I’m mentioning it.

The Body Shop also sells shade adjusting drops in two variants, one for lightening and one for darkening foundations. I haven’t tried these as I feel the foundation works well with my skin tone, but it might be interesting for someone else.

Anatomicals: Botanical Hydrating Rose Face Mask

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is a sheet mask from Anatomicals, a brand that I’ve never tried before but I’ve heard  a lot of good stuff about their products.

This brand distinguishes themselves with their more humourous approach towards skin care, this is thanks to the packaging which often has comedic sayings. In my opinion I’d wish more brands used a more similar approach to beauty especially skin care.

One of the things that shocked me when I pulled out this mask is just how much serum there is with this sheet mask, another thing is how big this sheet mask is compared to the others I’ve tried. This sheet mask is so large it managed to cover my throat area a bit which is actually wonderfull since that area also needs some tlc.

Another thing is the authentic rose scent this has, during the twenty minutes this was on it was extremely relaxing and I could definitely feel this working with my skin.

The packaging says that it contains extracts of aloe, english ivy and rose. This to me makes this mask ideal for those days when my skin needs some serious moisture boosting. But in my belief this is formulated for people with dry skin and therefore this is one that I can only use rarely or it might become too much for my oily/combination skin.

After using this my skin was hydrated and the effect is still there after two days.

I’m very happy with this mask and I can recommend it.

Is it as good as I remember? Depend Nail Polishes

This is a series where I review products that I once loved to find out if the product still delivers. The rules are simple: It must be at least a minimum of three years since the last time I used the product. This is just a response to the idea that personal taste changes and that what you once loved might no longer be to your preference.

20170626_025619.jpg

This is an old classic for me.

I remember my mom buying Depend nail polishes all the way back in the 90s and she would sometimes paint my nails, these small polishes are very likely the first beauty product I ever tried out in my life.

When I got older and started to earn my own money as a teenager, these were some of my favourite items to stock up on since they come in a great selection of colours and finishes, combine that with them being cheap and often on a buy 3 for the price of 2 sale and you have a product that is extremely affordable.

Although I never saw them as the perfect nail polishes I really did enjoy them since they were cheap, small and had an amazing selection of shades.

But the important question is what do I feel about them now?

Packaging

The packaging of these have changed over the years but currently they come housed in a tall but small glass bottle. They contain 5 ml of product.

One thing to note is that on the label at the front has a symbol that signifies whether the coverage is sheer or opaque.

Whenever I bought any of these I always make sure I write down the number of the shade, since the back label have a tendency to fade easily.

Shades

In this post I have done my best to try to showcase the variation of their line.

None of the shades in this line has any proper name just a number.

# 419

20100113_104438

This is a lovely dark purple with both purple and small amounts of blue shimmers in it.

This shade needs to be shaken, which is just simply to turn the bottle down and up, in order for the pigments to blend before applying. The first time I used this it came out sheer on the first coat and in the second coat the polish became really thick and the end result was a little bit textured.

Second time I used this it was a little bit more even but it still requires two coats to be opaque. Something weird happened in my swatch photos here, they come off as a bit sheer but in irl these are opaque.

One thing I really like about this polish is that It can last for 4-6 days without chipping, which is very good.

20170626_025702

20170615_161011

I believe this is an effect nail polish. It contains opaque white glitters with some larger silver glitters in a clear base.

I love this polish best alone since I found it weird as a top coat.

Alone this is stunning because it does look like you have snow on your nails, you need to shake it and put on two coats for this to reveal it’s beauty. It is a nail polish that manages to stand out but still be “neutral” enough that you can wear it on any occasion.

It is beautiful and extremely long-lasting. I don’t know how long this can be worn without cracking. I wore this for almost two full weeks before removing it, it almost looked like it did when I first applied it only that the clear base had started to get a little bit”yellowish” as clear nail polishes can become after a while.

20170615_161035

Verdict

I can’t argue against the price, it is ridiculously low even for the amount you get.

The quality is not the best but it is far from bad, I would call it an average formula and to be fair I have bought more expensive nail polishes which still cracked after two days.

These tend to be a bit more stubborn in my experience and they can be difficult to remove.

I believe I will buy more of these in the future.
