Get to know me

I’ve had my blog for some time now and I thought it could be a great idea to let you know me a bit better.

I am very grateful for every comment, like, follower and visitor that I’ve received on this blog and 2017 has been a great year for me.

I hope to bring you more content in 2018 that you will hopefully enjoy.

Thank you so much everyone!

What made you start blogging?

I love writing and I’m also very opinionated. So I thought it would be a great idea to combine the two although I am currently not very happy with my blog since I also want to create posts about other topics, which I am currently working on as I think people will appreciate a broader range of topics.

What kind of makeup product are you incapable of living without?

Blush for the very simple reason that I can look dead without it, which is very typical when you are pale but there’s also that blush to me is a very versatile product and I am someone who loves mixing different blushes in order to achieve different effects.

How tall are you?

147 cm or 4.10 in.

What is your natural haircolour?

I am a dark ash blonde naturally.

What is your favourite colour?

Red of course.

Favourite movie?

I am a huge fan of horror movies and it is difficult to choose between my “babies” but if I can only pick one I’d have to say “The Cube”.

Favourite music?

I am an omnivore when it comes to music, I enjoy a wide range of genres so yet again it comes down to picking a favourite among “babies”. Looking at my spotify I’ll have to say there is a lot of metal, classic and electronica though.

Lately the artist I’ve listened to the most is Udo Dirkschneider.

How would you describe your style?

I really don’t think I haveĀ  a specific style. When i look at my wardrobe and makeup collection there is a wide range of possible combinations.

I believe the best way to describe my “style” would be to call it a fusion between athletic, vintage, ethnic and rock.

20160924_191032

Ignore the red eyes XD but it was taken by my man when I was tightening my leather jacket. It is one of my favourite photos taken of me.

What were your best/worst subjects in school?

I always had good grades in school but I want to point out that the subjects I feel the most accomplished in was always english, art, history and science.

My worst subject was P.E as I felt very body conscious when I was younger.

Tea or coffee?

Both! but I do drink more tea since I am very sensitive to caffeine.

Do you have a favourite makeup brand?

Isadora.

Favorite memory from childhood?

When I was very young I suffered a lot from ear aches and my grandmother would put a cloth on a stone situated on top of the furnace, letting it heat up a couple of minutes before laying it on my pillow so that I could lay my hurting ear on it.

Thank you so much for reading.

Please send me questions you want answered and I will make a new post for them.

URBAN DOLLKISS Urban City Fresh Blown Eau De Parfum – No.4 Vermouth & Casiss

20171130_095835.jpg

Like I said in my review of URBAN DOLLKISS Urban City Fresh Blown Eau De Parfum I was going to buy another perfume from the line. I finally received this is my mail a week ago.

The last one has quickly become a favourite for me as I’ve almost used it exclusively the last months.

So I do have high hopes for this one.

20171130_095944.jpg

Notes

The notes in this perfume sounds very interesting. It has a great mixture of different olfactory groups and I have personally never tried a perfume with a mint note in it.

Top

Bergamot, Casiss and Mint.

Heart

Jasmine, Rose and Honey.

Base

Musk and Wood.

Packaging

The packaging is the same as with the last one but the cardboard box is mint green instead of yellow.

It features the same apple-shaped bottle that contains 8 ml of product.

20171130_100027

The Scent

As I mentioned with the last perfume from this line, the notes are fewer than what is common but it works the scents advantage.

This is a lot more sweeter than my other fresh blown eau de parfum and decidedly less sharp. Where the other one is very fresh and ” pointed” this No.4 is a bit more airy but still with some heaviness in it.

It has a very “green” quality to it which I believe is the mix of mint, rose, jasmine and casiss.

But it is very difficult to discern a lot of the notes in this scent separately as the notes in this scent has been mixed really well.

When you initially apply this it does have a cool undertone that I really enjoy, it’s likely caused by the mint, but during the dry down it becomes warmer and sweeter which I don’t like.

The sillage is what I would describe as medium but the longevity is amazing for a scent this inexpensive as it lasts for around four hours before starting to slowly fade.

I’d really wish this suited me but it is too sweet for my taste and I really expected the bergamot note to be much more present.

Conclusion

Personally speaking I don’t like this scent as it is too sweet and it becomes heavy on me.

But I can still recommend this especially to anyone who likes sweeter green scents. The price is unbeatable and the quality is great. I refuse to try layering this with my other fresh blown eau de parfum.

Sadly it did not suit me or my taste.

Garnier Respons – Soothing Hydrating Lotion with Oat Cream & Almond Milk.

20171121_042352.jpg

Now that the temperature is getting even lower there is nothing I love more than taking warm bath’s and lathering myself up in creamy lotions or creams, before brewing a nice cup of tea and making a “blanket nest” on the coach.

This is the season after all šŸ˜‰

So after running out after my favourite lotion and finding out that it had been discontinued I found this one at my local grocery store.

I have tried out a lot from the Garnier Respons line and I have had mixed results from the various products, but I did decide to try this out since it claims to be non greasy and non sticky, two qualities I’m always looking for when it comes to body lotions. It also sounded really luxurious since it has oat cream and almond milk in it.

Another claim is that it’s extracts are of 100% natural origin and it is formulated without parabens.

So how did this work out?

Let’s see!

Packaging

The packaging is a tear shaped bottle made of plastic and with the standard pump.

The bottle holds 250 ml of product.

Formula

The first thing of notice is the very heavy gourmand scent this body lotion has. I did initially like it but it proves too strong the longer I wear it also smells very cheap after a while.

I don’t like it and I am very disappointed since I had very high hopes that the scent would be a “soothing and natural” gourmand scent instead.

What makes it even more of a let down is that the formula itself is absolutely wonderful. I cannot praise the formula high enough as it really does fulfill what it claims and leaves my skin soft.

The texture is this really creamy thick lotion, which did surprise me since I initially thought this would be much more milky in texture because of the quick dry claim.

It’s not quick to dry however but it really does not matter that much when I’m left with soft skin that feels soothed. I often get very rough skin on my arms and legs during the winter so this body lotion has really helps with that.

Too bad that the scent ruins it šŸ˜¦

But if you love heavily sweet gourmandy scents then you will love this.

20171121_091859.jpg

Conclusions

It is great at moisturizing skin and it really does have a soothing effect but for me the scent ruins everything.

I will however recommend this to people but personally I won’t buy it again.

Isadora: Get The Glow Collection

IsaDora: isadora; make-up; smink; cosmetic; kosmetik

This collection was released shortly after the main summer collections from my favourite drugstore brand Isadora, this is a much more playful collection compared to earlier releases the last two years which is something I talked about in my review ofĀ Isadora Summer Collection 2017 ā€“ Blue Bliss.

Which brings me to something else about this collection, it is in my opinion a mini collection with adding products from existing lines and a few products that are “variations” of existing products, personally speaking I like it when brands do that since I believe that if you already have a formula that is well-loved and popular then why not extend the product line?

This collection contains five nail polishes, six lip glosses, a lip glitter and a highlighter palette.

I bought the items I found interesting.

Gloss Glace Ā 3-D Mirror Shine

Picture 619.jpg

This product line has been out for a while now but for this collection they came out with new shades.

I bought the shade 26# Iridescent Glow.

Description from Isadora:

Cover your lips with a glaced gloss effect and 3-D shine!

Gloss Glace Ā is a moisturizing lip gloss with a plumping effect that will visually make your lips look fuller.

  • 3-D Mirror shine.
  • Plumping.
  • Moizturising.
  • Long-lasting.
  • No transfering.
  • Easy and quick application.

ContainsĀ 16 ml e 0.54 oz of product. This is free from perfume and is clinically tested.

My opinion

I’m not a huge fan of lip gloss even though I like the look they can give.

Last year I bought the lip gloss set from H&Ms Global Fusion Collection and I really did enjoy those shimmer glosses as they were non-sticky and comfortable to wear which made me more curious about glosses.

This lip gloss is very intense on the lips. I enjoy this colour as it has a really intense blue iridescence and lilac shimmers, which is strangely flattering in my opinion and definitely makes this for me a very unique shade for me as I have nothing similar in my makeup collection.

It looks much more intense and iridescent in real life than in my pictures below.

When it comes to the claims Isadora has about this lip gloss, I’m not entirely sure if I can completely agree. It does slightly fulfill those claims but not in an extraordinary way

It does have a mirror like shine, I’ve never had a lip gloss this shiny before and yes, since it is a tube the application is neat and clean. But it is not completely transfer proof but it’s definitely long-lasting, more so than most lip glosses and not extremely sticky either.

It is a lip gloss that is very comfortable to wear and I really like the look. It has a very faint vanilla smell which derives from the aroma Isadora has listed in the ingredients list.

Loose Lip Glitter

20171013_125948_NIGHT.jpg

This was one of the items I was the most excited about as it was among the standouts of this collection.

Description from Isadora:

Loose lip glitter which gives an iridescent and holographic effect. It has a weightless feeling that is comfortable and it can be used on top of any lipstick or lip gloss but also on other parts of the face and body. It is also easy to remove.

Contains 5 grams of product.

My opinion

20171013_130713.jpg

I’ve used cosmetics glitters in the past but what makes this one stand out in for me is that it features an intense iridescence but is still very comfortable to wear since it does not give the “sand grains” feeling on the lips.

The glitter particles are made of different colours such as lilac, green, blue and orange which combined with the iridescence, creates a very bright effect and contributes to the extreme sparkle this product has.

I’ve used a lip balm below in the swatch photos.

Picture 637Picture 640Picture 638

Face Glow Prisma Wheel

Picture 616.jpg

This is the star of the collection and probably the item I was most eager to get my hands on. I do have many “coloured” highlighters in my makeup collection but I just had to get my hands on this.

These are also eye safe.

20170624_063518.jpg

Description from Isadora:

Iridescent facial powder in five pearly shades. Can be used alone or be mixed together for a special effect.

Contains 18 grams of product. Fragrance free and clinically tested.

20170624_063532.jpg

My opinion:

20170623_065909_BEST.jpg

I have to be honest in that I feel the formula is not among the greatest that I’ve tried, it is a little bit chalky and the fall-out can be immense and truthfully I am a bit disappointed by that especially since the last “face wheel” I tried from Isadora had a silky and buttery formula.

But I have found myself using this quite often lately, because yes it has its cons but I still find this product incredibly enjoyable to use. It is also very practical when traveling.

These were extremely difficult to photograph btw and they look much more vibrant in real life than in the swatch photos below.

Since none of the shades is given a separate name, I’ll start with the purple shade in this palette and go clockwise.

20170623_070026_BEST.jpg

The first shade of the wheel is a medium purple with a cool undertone. In the pan it also looks to have a hint of both blue and grey, to be honest this one did not excite me as I already have two purple highlighters in my makeup collection and it looked too muted to look good on me.

But it is flattering on skin since this turns into a purple highlighter with an intense blue iridescence running through it depending on the light source. It is a gorgeous shade that I feel I will use a lot in the future specifically as a blush topper.

20170624_071912

20170624_072646

20170623_070015_BEST.jpg

I initially thought the second one would be a regular silvery highlighter, these shades are usually the ones who go best with a pale complexion but I already own highlighters like this so I really did think that this one would remain mostly unused.

Boy was I wrong!

This one is the least subtle of the highlighters, it’s the only metallic highlighter in the wheel and combined with the iridescence it is one intense highlighter. It is so intense that I rarely use it on my cheekbones since it often becomes too much for my taste.

It also lightens the area it is applied to.

But I do really enjoy this one more than I initially expected.

20171013_141312.jpg

20170623_070002_BEST.jpg

The third one looked like a subtle beige highlighter in the pan, it even looks a little bit boring and not like it would pack much of a punch.

On skin however this is the highlighter that I didn’t knew I needed in my life, this is a stunning highlighter with the pink duochrome effect on a shimmery beige background and it does contain a small amount of micro-glitters.

It gives a “glow from within” effect on my skin.

Usually the only highlighters that looks “natural” on me is the pale white/silvery ones but I am happy to have come over a highlighter that falls outside that without looking muddy on me.

20171106_214439.jpg

This swatch came out as more cool-toned than it really is.

20170623_065950_BEST.jpg

The next one in the wheel is a darker version of the last one and I love using it as a blush topper.

It is too dark for me to use as a highlighte ron my nose or cupids bow but I really enjoy it as it gives a subtle warmth to any blush I’m sporting. It is really lovely as it’s not over bearing on even my skin tone.

It has the same pink duochrome as the last one but on a peachy background and I feel this one is going to be perfect for people with medium, tan or even deeper skin tones. It’s gorgeous!

20171116_111100.jpg

20170623_070036_BEST.jpg

The last one is my least favourite to be honest.

It is a minty green that will look bomb on a lot of people but I don’t feel it suits my skin tone that well.

When I try this out I feel that it makes me look very sick, which I find sad since the shade itself is very beautiful and I’d wish I could have pulled it off.

20171116_111837.jpg

Nail Glow

These are welcome in my makeup collection.

I bought two of these, namely shades #843 Aqua Glow and #842 Lilac Glow.

Description from Isadora:

Get glowing and iridescent nails with these nail polishes! These come in five different shades and you apply these with two coats or more depending on the wished effect.

Contains 6 ml of product. Clinically tested.

My opinion:

If you are looking for something opaque then you need to look elsewhere, these polishes are more for effect or on top of other nail polishes.

They are lovely in their own right but frankly not super special in my opinion, I believe I have a Depend nail polish somewhere with a similar effect but it needs to be said that I enjoy these since they do have a lovely glowy effectĀ but also dries quite fast.

These are an extension of Isadora’s wide brush line, which means that the brush are more of a rectangular and wide shape which makes it easier to avoid a streaky application.

I really enjoy these and I believe they will look gorgeous if you are out and about during night-time.

#843 Aqua Glow

20170624_053939.jpg

This one is a lovely shade with teal and light blue iridescent shimmers with some hint of lilac iridescence.

Depending on the light source it really does glows but it looks boring in broad daylight.

It also lasts sufficiently long.

I like it when I apply it in three coats.

20170624_053903.jpg

20170624_053758.jpg

#842 Lilac Glow

20170908_140507.jpg

This was the one I was the most excited about but for some strange reason it never lasts longer than two days, which is weird since the other shade lasts almost a week before starting to crack.

I like the shade but since it takes three coats before I like the look, it just becomes a waste of time for me to apply this.

20170908_140525.jpg

20170908_162732.jpg

20170908_162952.jpg

Verdict

I love this collection as it is very playful and unique from a drugstore brand.

There were products with some cons but overall I am very impressed with this collection and I do hope that Isadora release more playful collections as they have done very well lately.

What do you think?

Is this something you’d personally wish more brands released?

Sample Monday – TonyMoly Banana Hand Milk

Picture 357

It’s been a very long time since I’ve posted a sample monday post!

But I’m going to start-up with these again and I’m very excited to bring you one about the TonyMoly banana hand milk.

Personally I have issues with most hand creams even though I often get dry hands during the colder seasons. One main reason is that I feel that they are sticky and tacky but since this is supposed to be a lighter formula I have high hopes that I might like this.

According to TonyMoly this product contains banana extract and milk protein. It is supposed to give nutrition to dry hands and keep them healthy.

img_4290-1_52ada083-5d4b-4272-90ce-a347eed1a8fe_1200x

How the full size looks like.

20171107_211045.jpg

The first thing that hits me is that this smells like banana chewing gum and the consistency is actually thicker than I expected it to be.

The scent is a little bit too sweet for my taste but it mellows down very fast when you massage this into your skin. After two minutes it disappears completely so it really is not a huge issue for me.

The formula is not sticky but it is very creamy and it sinks into your skin very fast, something that impresses me since that’s not usually my experience with hand creams. Usually they take forever and leave a sticky residue even when my hands has the texture of sandpaper.

This leaves no residue but my hands feel extremely soft, hydrated and comfortable.

I believe I’ll have to buy the full size of this very soon because I am wowed by this.

Have you tried this?

Do you love it?

TonyMoly – Inked Cushion Liner

inkedliner1_1200x

This is a newish release from TonyMoly which features the cushion trend.

According to TonyMoly this cushion eyeliner is supposed to giveĀ  a feather light and ink-like application thank to its liquid-gel formula. It’s also supposed to be easy to apply with no clumping or dragging across the eyelid.

It comes inĀ Ā five shades: black, brown, pearl brown, plum wine and olive black.

412vd-jpzjl-_sx450_

I bought the black version so let’s see how it worked out.

Packaging

20171106_180038.jpg

This is one of the few times I am mesmerized by a products packaging alone.

I’m very firmly set in the belief that packaging can be cute/practical/sophisticated and I will appreciate it but the product itself will always be what I care about in the end.

This is shaped like a classical ink bottle with a feather quill. It is definitely an item thatĀ  will look good on your vanity.

The quill is actually an included eyeliner brush and the cushion eyeliner itself is revealed when you twist the bottom half off.

I also like the fact that this packaging is sturdier than I initially expected and I give a huge plus for the included brush.

It contains 2 grams of product.

20171106_180109.jpg

Formula

This is where I got really disappointed.

I don’t like giving bad reviews of products but unfortunately I cannot give this eyeliner any props.

Despite the claims that Tonymoly has about this eyeliner I felt that it was difficult to use. What I mean by that is that it dries too fast and it really tugged on my eyes making it difficult to apply properly.

I initially thought it might have something to do with the included brush but I experienced the same deal with my regular eyeliner brush.

I also did not like how the formula settles, it gives a very plasticky looking liner that looks very cheap and combined with how difficult it is to apply I end up with what best can be described as wonky results.

The cushion itself also dried up after a month despite the packaging saying that you can use this for up to six months before it’s expired.

I did try to use this in many of my looks but I always ended up using another eyeliner on top in order to make it look even and decent.

Another thing that irked me was that IĀ had to dip my brush quite a lot in order to make a line, which means that the cushion was open to air longer than I would like and it might have contributed to it drying up.

20171106_180224.jpg

Conclusion

This will not be rebought.

Again I don’t like writing reviews that are this negative since even though I have written negative reviews before I always manage to have some good things to say aboutĀ  a product or at least an understanding that it might be great on someone else.

The same goes for products I absolutely love, I can understand why they might not be someone elses cup of tea and I do my best to include that in a review with giving as much details of a product as possible.

This eyeliner on the other hand I can’t see how it could work on anyone.

It’s not that expensive in itself but when I compare the price and the fact that it dried up very quickly, it becomes evident that it is expensive compared to what you actually get.

The packaging is beyond gorgeous but I’d really wish I could say the same about the content aswell since I did have really high hopes for this.

Have you tried this?

What did you think about it?

Loreal Paris: Pure Clay’s Anti-Blemish Mask

20170930_162708.jpgThis is a new release from Loreal’s pure clay’s line and I have to say that Loreal has been killing the skin care game with the products in this line.

I have been using two of the cleansers and I can safely say that they have become holy grails in my skin care regimen and I will give them their own post very soon.

I was initially not that interested in the facial masks but I changed my mind when I saw this at the department store.

My skin has not reacted well to the heat wave that we have had during the summer and I struggled with enlarged pores and black heads + white heads, which is usually not an issue for me thanks to my skin care regimen but the temperatures that have been sweeping over my area the last few months has aggravated my skin pretty badly.

So you can imagine why I was so attracted to this šŸ™‚

20170930_172741.jpg

Here’s a very unflattering photo of me without makeup. You can clearly see how textured my skin was and all the red areas. This photo was taken in mid september.

Claims

This face mask contains three different kinds of clay: kaolin, montmorillonite and ghassoul.

It also contains marine algae which are known for its anti-blemish abilities.

The masks creamy formula reduces blackheads, tighten pores and gives beautiful skin without drying it out.

How to use

Use twice a week Ā on cleansed skin and avoid eye and lip area.

Leave it on for five to ten minutes.

Wash off with lukewarm water or a cleansing wipe.

Results according to Loreal

20170930_162543.jpg

Immediately: Skin looks less oily and feels cleaner.

After a week: Pores are clean and less noticeable.

After a month: Black heads are reduced. Skin feels balanced, comforted and improved.

Packaging

20171029_230140.jpg

The glass jar contains 50 ml of product which accordingly to Loreal is sufficient for 10 applications.

I really like how sturdy the packaging is and especially that it has a protective seal to keep the contents from drying out.

It might not look that great but as always it’s the content that matters.

Formula

20171017_143734.jpg

What surprised me the most is how gentle the scent of this mask is, it’s a very fresh lovely scent which reminds me of Ā a mixture of cucumbers and something that I can’t quite put my finger on.

I’m mentioning the scent since heavily scented face masks are a big no no for me.

But the formula is also extremely creamy, which makes the application a breeze. I really love how this feels on my skin.

I also find the shade very beautiful.

But one con I have is that it is very difficult to wash away, I really do recommend having makeup wipes ready to get most of the product off before washing off the remains.

Results

First application

After I washed it off I could definitely feel that my skin had been cleansed and some of the oilier parts of my skin had become mattified but I was very pleasantly surprised that my drier areas had become less itchy but also felt moisturized.

My skin was also very soft to touch so I feel that loreal’s claim about this mask not being drying is true.

After a week

My skin is clearer and feels refreshed. My red areas have diminished and I have less white and black heads than before. My skin is also less textured compared to two weeks before.

A month’s use

20171029_231243.jpg

Photo taken in mid October. No makeup or editing.

I am very impressed.

My skin feels so much better and I have no dry patches or black/white heads. My pores have shrinked notably especially on my nose which always have had big pores and a tendency to be dry at the same time.

The oiliness is also gone and there are no red angry patches on my skin anymore.

My skin still needs some more treatments as it still have some occasional breakouts but I am very happy with the results.

Conclusion

20171029_230058

I am very impressed by this mask as it gave great results and calmed my skin down. That and the fact that this mask kept its promise to not be drying, something most similar masks have a tendency to do.

The price is also very low compared to a lot of similar masks on the market.
