FaceInc by NailsInc London : Gilt Tripper Exfoliating Sheet Mask

20170803_192028.jpg

This is a new offer at my local H&M, I was not super impressed by the last one I tried but I decided to give in and purchase this one.

Here’s my review of that one: Face Inc by Nails Inc London: Cat Nap brightening sheet mask

This is an exfoliating sheet mask with a “gold barrier” which is supposed to help the formula and remove dead skin cells.

The formula contains hyaluronic acid, vitamin B5, cactus flower extract and honey extract. To mention a few.

But does it work?

Instructions

Apply to clean and dried skin. Be careful when taking out of the packaging and when applying it, make sure that it is in even contact with the skin. Leave it on for fifteen minutes and massage excessive serum into the skin. Wash off after use.

How did this work?

20170803_192334.jpg

This feels much sturdier than the regular sheet mask and I feel wonderfully silly in it.

The first thing I notice is just how warm it feels after just a couple of seconds, I do not think it is because it is aggravating my skin, it is just being warmed up by my body heat.

One thing of notice is that this mask does not have any particular scent, which is greatly welcomed by me as it means that I’m going to be more comfortable using this.

I really do like this but at the last minutes of using this I could feel it becoming  a little bit uncomfortable, this is due to my skin taking in all the skin loving ingredients which all in all is not a bad thing, so it was nice taking it off after 15 minutes.

I massaged the remains and washed my face as per instructions.

I have to say that I am impressed by this.

My skin is left feeling soft, glowing and I feel refreshed.

Have you tried any of these sheet masks?

What do you think about them?

Witch Casket July 2017

Disclaimer: I know that there are some people who will have a negative reaction to this post. To you I will just say that I am in no way pushing any sort of beliefs onto my readers and that this review is more geared towards readers who have an interest in these things.

I have nothing but love and respect towards everyone no matter what.

This is the first subscription service I’ve tried out and I’ve been very curious about such services for a long time but I decided against trying a makeup subscription service as I feel that they would simply just not work for me.

But I came across this last month and I became interested immediately. I’ve been dabbling in these sort of things since I was a small child and it has always been something that has brought a lot of positivity into my life.

Besides that this is one of the more inexpensive subscription services I’ve found on the internet in regards to shipping to my country.

Details

This subscription has three price points based on where the box is sent+there is no shipping fee applied.

UK: 24£

Europe: 30£

Rest of the world: 35£

This subscription is also vegan friendly!

In each casket there are “casket only” exclusive items and products from selected shops. Each casket has a minimum of 40£ value.

Delivery

The delivery was quicker than I initially expected.

These caskets get sent out every 15th in the month and the creators behind this service are very honest that their shipping service can be a bit unreliable when it comes to shipping time, which is quite normal but I like that sort of honesty.

For me it took six days before this turned up at my doorstep. This is quite a normal delivery time anytime I’m receiving something from the UK.

I like the fact that the casket came enveloped in a plastic case as i helps to protect box itself but also makes sure that it is discreet.

This month’s casket theme was the moon and dreams. I’m putting this under a read more since this post is quite lenghty.

URBAN DOLLKISS Urban City Fresh Blown Eau De Parfum

20170719_165257

This cute eau de parfum is a new offering from URBAN DOLLKISS formerly known as Baviphat.

The line contains ten different fragrances and the brand writes that these are meant to be used layered together in order for the user to create their own personal fragrance, which is also why the line has been divided into four categories: citrus, floral, fruity and musk.

I currently own NO.3 Lime Basil and Sage, I might buy some of the others and test out different layering techniques.

Packaging

20170719_165413

The bottle is made of glass and it is shaped as an apple, with the closure being made of some kind of metallic plastic. The closure is the only thing I don’t like about this perfume bottle since it is quite fragile and I have to be careful while opening or closing.

This bottle features a roll-on application which I love since it assures a mess free and controlled application.

20170719_165451

The bottle contains 8 ml of product, which might sound like a tiny amount but remember that this is not an eau de toilette but an eau de parfum, so a little goes a long way and it also lasts longer on skin.

In the end the bottle is cute and reminds me of those small vintage perfume bottles that used to be easy to find at markets.

The Scent

I chose NO.3 Lime Basil and Sage since I am fond of fresh herbal scents and they are quite uncommon on the market.

The notes are as follows:

Top: Grapefruit, Lemon  and Lime.

Heart: Jasmine, Basil and Sage.

Base: Patchouli.

When I looked at the full list of notes the first, in the ad there was no list only a description, I became a little bit worried since this perfume has both patchouli and jasmine. Both of those notes have a tendency to give me a headache but I am pleasantly surprised at how much I love this scent.

For me this smells like a crisp summer morning.

Personally speaking I’m very tired of the typical summer scents that get’s released every year, they all smell too similar to each other!

So I am pleased to have found something that still is very summery but does not fall into the stereotypical rendition of a summer fragrance.

The scent starts off a little bit sharp but as time progresses and the citrus top notes starts to mellow down a little, the heart notes really does come out to play and the herbal notes mesh perfectly with the jasmine.

Jasmine is in my opinion one of the more masculine florals, combine that with herbal notes and you get a heart accord with a unisex feeling to it. That makes it sound heavy but it is kept fresh thanks to the top notes.

The patchouli is the only base note in this fragrance but I think it was a good idea from the one concocting this. The patchouli gives this fragrance a nice earthy quality that keeps this fragrance from becoming too airy or fleeting.

After wearing this for a couple of hours the patchouli starts to give off a more smoky quality, which is very beautiful in my opinion.

Verdict

This scent is on its way to become a new favourite.

The way it progresses when I wear it is so beautiful and complex.

The price point is also very good but I do see that the price varies depending on where you buy it. I paid five dollars for this and I’m happy to have found a perfume that I love that is budget friendly.

I feel that perfumes are something that is extremely personal and as such it is difficult to give recommendations, but I hope that my description of this scent was useful and that you liked this post. The photos in this post came out very blurry but I believe they still captures how the product still looks.

Is it as good as I remember? Lush Edition

lush_logo_black

This is a series where I review products that I once loved to find out if the product still delivers. The rules are simple: It must be at least a minimum of three years since the last time I used the product. This is just a response to the idea that personal taste changes and that what you once loved might no longer be to your preference.

Lush is a cosmetics brand that does not need any introduction. I have loved this brand since I went to a school trip in middle school many years ago and over these years I have tried out a wide range of their offerings.

But in this post I’ll be covering two products that I have loved and I finally managed to snatch them up some time ago.

Wiccy Magic Muscles Massage Bar

00253

This was the first product I ever tried from Lush and it is a product that is difficult to get your hand on from the net store, it usually is always sold out and the shipping cost is high.

But I did manage to snatch it up some time ago and let me tell you, I forgot how much I loved this product.

I know that not everyone will like the scent this has. It is a very strong mix of cinnamon and menthol that is reminiscent of tiger balm but with a sweeter undertone. Personally I absolutely love it and if I had the skills I’d try to recreate it as a perfume oil.

It is a lovely massage bar for the days when I have muscle pains. First it feels very cooling but it then starts to warm up a bit and helps relaxing the muscles.

I love the consistency of this massage bar, it is soft but it does not disappear immediately on skin but it is also not what I would call greasy either. It does a nice job at moisturizing the skin.

Personally I love to use it after a nice bath/shower then lather this in my hands before applying it. This is of course before going to bed with multiple layers of blankets on top.

But is it me or has this massage bar become more expensive and smaller over the years?

Well this is a rediscovered love and I’ll see if I manage to snatch it up again someday.

New Shampoo Bar

02009

Offciial pic from Lush.

As some of you might have guessed, I am a sucker for anything cinnamon.

This is a solid shampoo bar that is supposed to keep dandruff away, ensure good scalp health and keep hair from becoming oily.

Among the ingredients are peppermint oil, nettle extract, cinnamon leaf oil, rosemary oil, bay oil and clove bud oil. All of these oils and extracts are good for scalp and oily hair to my knowledge.

The last time I had this I had extremely oily hair and my scalp was riddled with psoriasis, which meant that for me a lot of the shampoos created to combat oily hair were very harsh to my scalp and I would sometimes get sores caused by the irritation.

This shampoo bar managed to keep my scalp free from psoriasis, got rid of the oils and my hair became more balanced. This shampoo bar worked miracles for my hair and its effect has lasted through the years.

That’s why I did not rebuy it again as I managed to be capable of using other shampoos since my hair and scalp got balanced.

But I rebought this some time ago to see what I thought of it now.

This shampoo is still great but I find myself using this only when I’m trying to remove styling products from my hair as it is a shampoo that is effective at removing such products. But I’m not capable of using it as an everyday shampoo as I feel it is a bit harsh for my taste.

This might have more to do with me bleaching my hair and let me be honest, no matter how healthy you hair is or how careful you are with bleaching your hair, you are still damaging you hair and weakening it and it will have a tendency to become more brittle.

But I still find myself loving this shampoo as it is super effective and my scalp absolutely adores it.

Anatomicals: Botanical Hydrating Rose Face Mask

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is a sheet mask from Anatomicals, a brand that I’ve never tried before but I’ve heard  a lot of good stuff about their products.

This brand distinguishes themselves with their more humourous approach towards skin care, this is thanks to the packaging which often has comedic sayings. In my opinion I’d wish more brands used a more similar approach to beauty especially skin care.

One of the things that shocked me when I pulled out this mask is just how much serum there is with this sheet mask, another thing is how big this sheet mask is compared to the others I’ve tried. This sheet mask is so large it managed to cover my throat area a bit which is actually wonderfull since that area also needs some tlc.

Another thing is the authentic rose scent this has, during the twenty minutes this was on it was extremely relaxing and I could definitely feel this working with my skin.

The packaging says that it contains extracts of aloe, english ivy and rose. This to me makes this mask ideal for those days when my skin needs some serious moisture boosting. But in my belief this is formulated for people with dry skin and therefore this is one that I can only use rarely or it might become too much for my oily/combination skin.

After using this my skin was hydrated and the effect is still there after two days.

I’m very happy with this mask and I can recommend it.

Is it as good as I remember? Depend Nail Polishes

This is a series where I review products that I once loved to find out if the product still delivers. The rules are simple: It must be at least a minimum of three years since the last time I used the product. This is just a response to the idea that personal taste changes and that what you once loved might no longer be to your preference.

20170626_025619.jpg

This is an old classic for me.

I remember my mom buying Depend nail polishes all the way back in the 90s and she would sometimes paint my nails, these small polishes are very likely the first beauty product I ever tried out in my life.

When I got older and started to earn my own money as a teenager, these were some of my favourite items to stock up on since they come in a great selection of colours and finishes, combine that with them being cheap and often on a buy 3 for the price of 2 sale and you have a product that is extremely affordable.

Although I never saw them as the perfect nail polishes I really did enjoy them since they were cheap, small and had an amazing selection of shades.

But the important question is what do I feel about them now?

Packaging

The packaging of these have changed over the years but currently they come housed in a tall but small glass bottle. They contain 5 ml of product.

One thing to note is that on the label at the front has a symbol that signifies whether the coverage is sheer or opaque.

Whenever I bought any of these I always make sure I write down the number of the shade, since the back label have a tendency to fade easily.

Shades

In this post I have done my best to try to showcase the variation of their line.

None of the shades in this line has any proper name just a number.

# 419

20170626_025643

20100113_104438

This is a lovely dark purple with both purple and small amounts of blue shimmers in it.

This shade needs to be shaken, which is just simply to turn the bottle down and up, in order for the pigments to blend before applying. The first time I used this it came out sheer on the first coat and in the second coat the polish became really thick and the end result was a little bit textured.

Second time I used this it was a little bit more even but it still requires two coats to be opaque. Something weird happened in my swatch photos here, they come off as a bit sheer but in irl these are opaque.

One thing I really like about this polish is that It can last for 4-6 days without chipping, which is very good.

20170626_025702

20170615_161011

I believe this is an effect nail polish. It contains opaque white glitters with some larger silver glitters in a clear base.

I love this polish best alone since I found it weird as a top coat.

Alone this is stunning because it does look like you have snow on your nails, you need to shake it and put on two coats for this to reveal it’s beauty. It is a nail polish that manages to stand out but still be “neutral” enough that you can wear it on any occasion.

It is beautiful and extremely long-lasting. I don’t know how long this can be worn without cracking. I wore this for almost two full weeks before removing it, it almost looked like it did when I first applied it only that the clear base had started to get a little bit”yellowish” as clear nail polishes can become after a while.

20170615_161035

Verdict

I can’t argue against the price, it is ridiculously low even for the amount you get.

The quality is not the best but it is far from bad, I would call it an average formula and to be fair I have bought more expensive nail polishes which still cracked after two days.

These tend to be a bit more stubborn in my experience and they can be difficult to remove.

I believe I will buy more of these in the future.

Thank you for reading!

Celebrating Sankthans and good news.

20170624_081503.jpg

We woke up yesterday to this amazing sky formation and clear weather.

24 of June is a day of celebration in Norway called Sankthans. It was originally a christian tradition to the birth of John the baptist, but in Scandinavia it has its roots in older nordic traditions. Traditionally the day is celebrated by large bonfires, food, drink and dancing.

But instead of going out and celebrating as me and my husband normally would, we took a day off at home celebrate some very good news.

For soon six months now we have struggled to find a new place to live. The apartment we live in is far from cheap and we had not managed to find something cheaper or in a better standard, which is a bit shocking since our apartment is not exactly the best around.

But we talked to a friend of ours and they want to move in. This will make everything so much easier regarding our financial situation.

I’m so relieved, we have both been so stressed out but things are looking up and hopefully we will be capable to live calmer life’s in the future.
