Isadora – Spring Atelier Spring Makeup Collection 2018

Official picture from Isadora.

I’m so sorry guys! I feel like I’m spamming you with Isadora reviews for such a long time now but I always get excited with their new releases.

From Isadora’s website:

Inspiration/Colours

Our inspiration is taken from an atelier located in a pulsating city, spring is in the air and light comes in with pulsating colours which sets the standard for this seasons colour palette. We work with sculpting, highlighting with light and shades.

Highlight the contours of the face with soft peach and pink tones and dress the lips with soft nude pink. The highlighter and light tones reflects the eyes and your best traits.

Top it off with the roll-on eyeliner to give the last finish which will give a sophisticated and gorgeous look.

As with all the other reviews I’ve had on Isadora’s collections this one will also follow my principle to only buy the products that I feel I need.

My point has also been that one of the reasons why I love Isadora’s collections so much is that they always expand their existing product lines and add some few new products within these collections.

I feel very strongly that this is a more consumer friendly way for a makeup brand to do business. Instead of releasing an endless line of limited editions or releasing new products that end up being half hacked because brands just want them to get out on the market as quick as possible.

Eyeshadow quad in 14 Peach Avenue

  • Silky and creamy texture
  • Extra long wearing + 12 hours
  • Intense colour
  • Melts into skin
  • Weight: 5.0 g/ .17 oz.
Clinically tested and contains no perfume

This was one of my must have items from this collection as I’m in need for some easy ready to wear eyeshadows that are suitable for work.

I’ve also missed having quads in my makeup bag as palettes have dominated the makeup scene for quite some time now. Which is something I honestly don’t quite understand as quads are much easier to deal with and you don’t end up with shadows you don’t use or are incapable/unsure of combining.

Peach Avenue is not the most creative or original release but I love these shades and their finish.

These eyeshadows have a very silky matte finish that never looks dry on the eye and it does actually both look and feel like they melt into the skin.

It is a really enjoyable formula as I sometimes find matte eyeshadows to sometimes be dry-looking on the eyes or even difficult to blend out evenly. These eyeshadows on the other hand blend easily with each other and with other eyeshadow formulas.

One thing I have to say about these are that they work best without a primer. They are not as smooth or creamy on top of primer and they become very textured aswell.

Now onto the colours.

Like mentioned earlier this quad is not revolutionary but I really enjoy the shades here as I find this quad really easy for everyday use and when I need to be quick about my makeup.

From top left to bottom right.

20180408_133028.jpg

Without primer at top and with primer at bottom.

The first shade is the essential highlighting/browbone shade. It is a soft cream colour with a neutral undertone, I have two other similar shades in my collection but I really love how soft this shade translates on my eyes.

As previously mentioned these don’t work well with a primer. With this shade the primer makes the shadow darker but also uneven.

20180408_140530.jpg

The second has started to become one of my new favourites. It is a greyish taupe which has started to become my go to transition shade as it is not overpowering in my crease like a lot of other eyeshadows have a habit of being. It is gorgeous in combination with a  shimmer packed shade aswell.

This one darkens with a primer and also becomes a bit difficult to blend.

The third shade is really the star of this quad. It is a lovely peachy shade that goes on more bright on the eyelid than it looks like it would. I really love how much this makes my eyes pop especially in combination with the rest of the shades in this quad. It is gorgeous and makes the blue in my eyes pop out.

Of all the shades in the quad this one has least difficulties with primer.

The last shade is a chocolate-brown. I currently don’t own a shade like this in my makeup collection which might sound wierd to a lot of people as it is one of those fundamental shades. I’ve used this as a soft eyeliner aswell as a lid colour and it is absolutely beautiful, especially with the finish this quad has.

This one is the most powdery of the shadows and it performs like the cream colour when applied to primer.

20180227_130748

One thing I have to say is that I really love the colour palette of this as these sort of shades work really well on my complexion as they manage to make me look healthy by adding a bit of warmth to my face.

Some people may react to the scent of this but I need to remind people that this is how makeup smells when there is no added perfume. What you smell is the scent of the ingredients.

With that disclaimer gone let’s get down to it.

I’m starting with the orange shade and continue clockwise.

20180328_120417.jpg

20180328_120432

The orange shade has a slight golden sheen to it. It does give a very fresh look and a true glow from within effect which I always love in a blush. It is the standout shade of this wheel but I also think that it is a very wearable shade at the same time and one that will suit very many since it is neither overly warm or bright.

20180328_121059

20180328_121305.jpgThe second shade is a slightly cool toned berry shade with golden shimmer in it. I’ll be honest and say that this is a shade I have to be a bit careful with since if I’m too heavy-handed this can easily make me look as if I have a bruise on my cheek, but it is a gorgeous colour and I love sporting it when I’m doing a more cool toned look. I think this is a shade that will look better on people with medium neutral/cool toned skin.

20180328_122337

20180328_121413

The third shade is somewhat similar to the second one but it is brighter and more of a coral shade. It also features the golden sheen that dominates the wheel, it is also a shade I have to be light handed with but it does give a very beautiful effect when applied but I strongly feel that this shade is better for people with a medium skin tone.

20180328_122559

Here’s a photo that shows the difference between the two shades. With the second shade being on the left and the third shade on the right.

20180328_124108.jpg

The last blush shade is a matte muted peachy shade. This one is a really typical blush shade that suits well for pale skin and I do find myself wearing this a lot lately since it is fool-proof and easy to apply when I need to be quick about my makeup. The effect it gives is a subtle one but it looks very fresh and natural on the cheeks.

20180328_115511.jpg

20180328_115522.jpg

There is one highlighter shade in this wheel and it is a subtle light golden shade. It is light enough to look great on my skin which usually golden highlighters rarely do. It will look good on most people but it is very subtle and that might not be what everyone likes but I do prefer it this way. What surprises me the most is that I am capable of using this to highlight my nose and cupids bow without it making me look odd.

In the end I absolutely love this wheel, not only are the shades beyond gorgeous but the formula is super silky and easy to apply. I also love that I can use these as eyeshadows as these are pigmented but still buildable.

Precise roll-on Eyeliner in 20 Black

This is a completely new product from Isadora which features the “pizza wheel” applicator.

Contains 1 ml of product and is clinically tested aswell as unperfumed.

Claims

  • Super easy and quick application.
  • Easily rolls on an even line.
  • Perfect for creating a winged eyeliner look.
  • For a thicker line, roll the wheel back and forth.
  • High coverage.
  • Water proof.
  • Dries fast.

How to use

  • Shake well before use and roll the wheel along the lash line for the wished effect.

20180408_144433.jpg

The first time I used this I did not have the highest hopes but I was surprisingly taken aback at how clean I managed to get my first attempt at a cat eye with this product. Obviously you need to make sure that the wheel is completely aligned the way you want it to be but it isn’t that difficult if you don’t rush it.

This is also thanks to the packaging, the handle is shaped to be comfortable to hold, making it easier to steady the hand to create the perfect line. I like the fact that the handle is also quite long as it helps steadying the hand even more.

20180408_144642.jpg

The formula is ink black and there is no grey or brown undertone that some black eyeliners have. It applies very wet something I prefer in a eyeliner as it makes it easier for me to clean up a line with the applicator. The only con I have of the formula is that it dries very quickly and it can be difficult to properly fill in whatever needs to be filled in.

But those cons are small in my opinion when this has proven itself to be very hardy on the eye, it is extremely waterproof and I did test this during a heavy snowstorm and while my mascara was ruined the eyeliner was looking as perfect as when I applied it.

Another thing to mention is that I do find the applicator difficult for my inner corners but again it is for me a minor complaint when I compare it to what I like about it.

The finish it leaves is a semi-matte and I do prefer matte finishes to my eyeliners but I find myself loving this.

Aromaleigh: Laluna Supernatural Shimmer Powder Trio

aromaleighinc_2269_31590761__58225-1435926052-1280-1280

These three highlighters are among my holy grail products.

These are formulated to be used as multi purpose powders for strobing, all over face and body.

These are available in two sizes:

Sample bags containing 1/4 teaspoons of product.

Regular size jar containing ca 7 grams net weight of product.

As always highlighters are notoriously difficult for me to photograph, so please keep in mind that these are much more beautiful in person than in my swatch photos.

20170619_204441.jpg

Disclaimer!

I just want to say that nowhere in the description of these powders are there any indication that they are formulated to be lip/eye safe but neither are there any warnings against such use. Therefore I feel that it would have been highly unethical of me to not mention it in this review. Personally I have kept my usage of these products to face and body just to be safe.

Laluna Lustre

Official description:

Laluna Lustre is a very fine, silky powder that slightly lightens your skin and gives you a luminous gleam. It’s the most subtle of the trio, but personally, I feel that it gives the most interesting effect because it is so finely milled that your skin becomes radiant with an iridescent glow. This makeup is especially dramatic when applied to your face, especially if you have pale, smooth skin- this makeup actually makes your skin look like glowing moonstone, or marble.

This is the most subtle one of the trio and for me this is my favourite everyday highlighter.

It is formulated with a pearly white base and the shimmer is extremely finely milled which combined makes this a glowy but still subtle highlighter.

As Aromaleigh mentions this can lead this to slightly lighten skin, this is not an issue when I use it as a regular highlighter but whenever I use this as an all-over face powder I can definitely see that it does give a slight lightening effect.

It does give a very interesting effect and the description from Aromaleigh is very spot on. It gives a very ethereal vibe to any makeup look I’m sporting.

This is a perfect highlighter for pale cool-toned skin but I do believe that other skin tones will look good with it aswell, it is more about people’s taste than anything else.

Laluna Sparkle

Official description:

Laluna Sparkle contains distinct shimmering iridescent glimmers. In the sunlight or under bright light, it shimmers like radiant tiny diamonds. Apply over skin that you have applied lotion to (preferably with a high SPF, of course!), the effect is even more pronounced, and the product will stay longer on your skin. Twilight Sparkle may slightly lighten your skin, but it is formulated to be suitable for many skintones, in a transparent base.

This has larger shimmer particles compared to Lustre and yes it does look like tiny diamonds when it is applied on skin, actually it reminds me of a long discontinued product from Nivea from when they still produced makeup.

I sometimes use this on my cheekbones when I want to have a more “dramatic” look but in general I do prefer to use this on my body and in particular on my décolleté if I’m wearing a dress or a top.

It really does give an eye-catching effect that is gorgeous but avoids going into the tacky or cheap connotation that products like these often can.

The swatches are taken in different lightning conditions but the sparkles are far more vivid in irl especially when its sunny.

Laluna Dazzle

Official description:

Laluna Dazzle provides the most intense borealis iridescent sparkle on your skin. Dazzle sparkles beautifully even under indoor lights, and simply, well… “Dazzles” in the bright sunlight. Wear this one when you *want* to be noticed. Apply over skin that you have applied lotion to (preferably with a high SPF, of course!) and the effect is more pronounced and the product will stay longer on your skin. This formula contains pure mineral makeup shimmer in a transparent base, so it can be used on a variety of skin tones.

This one is the queen of sparkles and definitely not an everyday-look item, but it is one of those items that I just need to have in my makeup collection.

Just as with Sparkle this is one that I mostly enjoy using on my body and décolleté but I have on occasion used it on my cheek bones. It gives such a gorgeous but dramatic look that makes me feel ethereal and beautiful.

Just so I have put it out there, I actually sometimes use this beneath my eyes which might not sound like a great idea but is in fact very beautiful in my opinion+it helps hiding away dark under eye circles. This is only in combination with a dramatic eye look and a good concealer.

Of these three formulas this is also the one with the “thinnest” consistency, if it even makes sense of me saying that.

Since it is the only one formulated with a transparent base it might also be more forgiving towards a wider range of skin tones.

20171116_131755.jpg

Verdict

I love these highlighters.

They are silky and easy to use, the formula of each of these three are just perfect in my opinion.

I can feel safe recommending these to people but I want to add that it might be a good idea to order a sample if you are unsure since they do have the tendency to slightly lighten skin, something not everyone will like.

Isadora: Get The Glow Collection

IsaDora: isadora; make-up; smink; cosmetic; kosmetik

This collection was released shortly after the main summer collections from my favourite drugstore brand Isadora, this is a much more playful collection compared to earlier releases the last two years which is something I talked about in my review of Isadora Summer Collection 2017 – Blue Bliss.

Which brings me to something else about this collection, it is in my opinion a mini collection with adding products from existing lines and a few products that are “variations” of existing products, personally speaking I like it when brands do that since I believe that if you already have a formula that is well-loved and popular then why not extend the product line?

This collection contains five nail polishes, six lip glosses, a lip glitter and a highlighter palette.

I bought the items I found interesting.

Gloss Glace  3-D Mirror Shine

Picture 619.jpg

This product line has been out for a while now but for this collection they came out with new shades.

I bought the shade 26# Iridescent Glow.

Description from Isadora:

Cover your lips with a glaced gloss effect and 3-D shine!

Gloss Glace  is a moisturizing lip gloss with a plumping effect that will visually make your lips look fuller.

  • 3-D Mirror shine.
  • Plumping.
  • Moizturising.
  • Long-lasting.
  • No transfering.
  • Easy and quick application.

Contains 16 ml e 0.54 oz of product. This is free from perfume and is clinically tested.

My opinion

I’m not a huge fan of lip gloss even though I like the look they can give.

Last year I bought the lip gloss set from H&Ms Global Fusion Collection and I really did enjoy those shimmer glosses as they were non-sticky and comfortable to wear which made me more curious about glosses.

This lip gloss is very intense on the lips. I enjoy this colour as it has a really intense blue iridescence and lilac shimmers, which is strangely flattering in my opinion and definitely makes this for me a very unique shade for me as I have nothing similar in my makeup collection.

It looks much more intense and iridescent in real life than in my pictures below.

When it comes to the claims Isadora has about this lip gloss, I’m not entirely sure if I can completely agree. It does slightly fulfill those claims but not in an extraordinary way

It does have a mirror like shine, I’ve never had a lip gloss this shiny before and yes, since it is a tube the application is neat and clean. But it is not completely transfer proof but it’s definitely long-lasting, more so than most lip glosses and not extremely sticky either.

It is a lip gloss that is very comfortable to wear and I really like the look. It has a very faint vanilla smell which derives from the aroma Isadora has listed in the ingredients list.

Loose Lip Glitter

20171013_125948_NIGHT.jpg

This was one of the items I was the most excited about as it was among the standouts of this collection.

Description from Isadora:

Loose lip glitter which gives an iridescent and holographic effect. It has a weightless feeling that is comfortable and it can be used on top of any lipstick or lip gloss but also on other parts of the face and body. It is also easy to remove.

Contains 5 grams of product.

My opinion

20171013_130713.jpg

I’ve used cosmetics glitters in the past but what makes this one stand out in for me is that it features an intense iridescence but is still very comfortable to wear since it does not give the “sand grains” feeling on the lips.

The glitter particles are made of different colours such as lilac, green, blue and orange which combined with the iridescence, creates a very bright effect and contributes to the extreme sparkle this product has.

I’ve used a lip balm below in the swatch photos.

Picture 637Picture 640Picture 638

Face Glow Prisma Wheel

Picture 616.jpg

This is the star of the collection and probably the item I was most eager to get my hands on. I do have many “coloured” highlighters in my makeup collection but I just had to get my hands on this.

These are also eye safe.

20170624_063518.jpg

Description from Isadora:

Iridescent facial powder in five pearly shades. Can be used alone or be mixed together for a special effect.

Contains 18 grams of product. Fragrance free and clinically tested.

20170624_063532.jpg

My opinion:

20170623_065909_BEST.jpg

I have to be honest in that I feel the formula is not among the greatest that I’ve tried, it is a little bit chalky and the fall-out can be immense and truthfully I am a bit disappointed by that especially since the last “face wheel” I tried from Isadora had a silky and buttery formula.

But I have found myself using this quite often lately, because yes it has its cons but I still find this product incredibly enjoyable to use. It is also very practical when traveling.

These were extremely difficult to photograph btw and they look much more vibrant in real life than in the swatch photos below.

Since none of the shades is given a separate name, I’ll start with the purple shade in this palette and go clockwise.

20170623_070026_BEST.jpg

The first shade of the wheel is a medium purple with a cool undertone. In the pan it also looks to have a hint of both blue and grey, to be honest this one did not excite me as I already have two purple highlighters in my makeup collection and it looked too muted to look good on me.

But it is flattering on skin since this turns into a purple highlighter with an intense blue iridescence running through it depending on the light source. It is a gorgeous shade that I feel I will use a lot in the future specifically as a blush topper.

20170624_071912

20170624_072646

20170623_070015_BEST.jpg

I initially thought the second one would be a regular silvery highlighter, these shades are usually the ones who go best with a pale complexion but I already own highlighters like this so I really did think that this one would remain mostly unused.

Boy was I wrong!

This one is the least subtle of the highlighters, it’s the only metallic highlighter in the wheel and combined with the iridescence it is one intense highlighter. It is so intense that I rarely use it on my cheekbones since it often becomes too much for my taste.

It also lightens the area it is applied to.

But I do really enjoy this one more than I initially expected.

20171013_141312.jpg

20170623_070002_BEST.jpg

The third one looked like a subtle beige highlighter in the pan, it even looks a little bit boring and not like it would pack much of a punch.

On skin however this is the highlighter that I didn’t knew I needed in my life, this is a stunning highlighter with the pink duochrome effect on a shimmery beige background and it does contain a small amount of micro-glitters.

It gives a “glow from within” effect on my skin.

Usually the only highlighters that looks “natural” on me is the pale white/silvery ones but I am happy to have come over a highlighter that falls outside that without looking muddy on me.

20171106_214439.jpg

This swatch came out as more cool-toned than it really is.

20170623_065950_BEST.jpg

The next one in the wheel is a darker version of the last one and I love using it as a blush topper.

It is too dark for me to use as a highlighte ron my nose or cupids bow but I really enjoy it as it gives a subtle warmth to any blush I’m sporting. It is really lovely as it’s not over bearing on even my skin tone.

It has the same pink duochrome as the last one but on a peachy background and I feel this one is going to be perfect for people with medium, tan or even deeper skin tones. It’s gorgeous!

20171116_111100.jpg

20170623_070036_BEST.jpg

The last one is my least favourite to be honest.

It is a minty green that will look bomb on a lot of people but I don’t feel it suits my skin tone that well.

When I try this out I feel that it makes me look very sick, which I find sad since the shade itself is very beautiful and I’d wish I could have pulled it off.

20171116_111837.jpg

Nail Glow

These are welcome in my makeup collection.

I bought two of these, namely shades #843 Aqua Glow and #842 Lilac Glow.

Description from Isadora:

Get glowing and iridescent nails with these nail polishes! These come in five different shades and you apply these with two coats or more depending on the wished effect.

Contains 6 ml of product. Clinically tested.

My opinion:

If you are looking for something opaque then you need to look elsewhere, these polishes are more for effect or on top of other nail polishes.

They are lovely in their own right but frankly not super special in my opinion, I believe I have a Depend nail polish somewhere with a similar effect but it needs to be said that I enjoy these since they do have a lovely glowy effect but also dries quite fast.

These are an extension of Isadora’s wide brush line, which means that the brush are more of a rectangular and wide shape which makes it easier to avoid a streaky application.

I really enjoy these and I believe they will look gorgeous if you are out and about during night-time.

#843 Aqua Glow

20170624_053939.jpg

This one is a lovely shade with teal and light blue iridescent shimmers with some hint of lilac iridescence.

Depending on the light source it really does glows but it looks boring in broad daylight.

It also lasts sufficiently long.

I like it when I apply it in three coats.

20170624_053903.jpg

20170624_053758.jpg

#842 Lilac Glow

20170908_140507.jpg

This was the one I was the most excited about but for some strange reason it never lasts longer than two days, which is weird since the other shade lasts almost a week before starting to crack.

I like the shade but since it takes three coats before I like the look, it just becomes a waste of time for me to apply this.

Verdict

I love this collection as it is very playful and unique from a drugstore brand.

There were products with some cons but overall I am very impressed with this collection and I do hope that Isadora release more playful collections as they have done very well lately.

What do you think?

Is this something you’d personally wish more brands released?
